BRPASW Mentoring Program
The Business Recovery Planners Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. (BRPASW) has created a mentoring program to aid in helping new members learn from experienced members. Here are the highlights of the program:

BRPASW MENTOR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Match new members with more established members to assist them in becoming more familiar with the profession, the organization, the members and available resources
  • Introduce mentees to other members at meetings
  • Acquaint new members with available resources
  • Learning about new resources to assist in member development
  • Create and build durable professional and personal relationships

    BECOMING A MENTOR

    To assure that the Mentorship Program is of high quality, there are consideration criteria for becoming a Mentor. Those qualification considerations include:

  • 2+ years as a BRPASW member
  • 3+ years experience in Business Continuity, Business Recovery or Disaster Recovery
  • A genuine interest and willingness to make the commitment to forming a mentor relationship with new members
  • A high value, commitment and regard for Business Continuity, Business Recovery or Disaster Recovery and desire to share these with others

    MENTOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Introduce mentee at monthly BRPASW meetings and assist mentee with networking
  • Introduce resources available through BRPASW
  • Assist mentee in identifying resources or solutions to problems and questions
  • Establish contact with mentee within 5 business days of inquiry
  • Share a professional overview: education, experience and areas of expertise
  • Share contact information: phone, email, etc
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Dedicate at least 60 minutes a month to the relationship, or as negotiated between the two parties.
  • Attend one 30 minute conference call each quarter to share with other mentors progress and updates

    MENTEE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    A successful mentoring program is a partnership, and requires a joint commitment. Some of the requirements for becoming a mentee include:

  • Respect confidentiality
  • Share a professional overview: education, experience and areas of expertise
  • Share contact information with mentor
  • Be sensitive to time demands on mentor
  • Dedicate 60 minutes a month to the relationship; this may be negotiated between the two parties
  • Define objectives of mentor/mentee relationship; communicate expectations

    HOW TO BECOME A MENTOR

  • Complete the BRPASW mentor information questionnaire, and include 2-3 paragraph biography of your BCP experience
  • Send completed questionnaire including biography information tomentoring@brpasw.org
  • A profile will be created and posted on our website at Mentors page (login required) for each mentor. Interested mentees will contact Mentors directly

    HOW TO BECOME A MENTEE - FINDING A MENTOR

  • Go to mentors.php (login required) and review mentor profiles
  • Once you have found someone that you would like to be your mentor, contact them via email or phone
  • Once you have found a mentor, send an email to mentoring@brpasw.org and identify the name of your mentor
